About the Master Control Operator - Casual position

We are looking for up-and-coming Master Control Operators to join our growing team and assist in the delivery of hundreds of sports, arts and broadcast events each week.

As a Master Control Operator at 5stream, you will bridge the gap between broadcast and streaming workflows through work with the National Basketball League, Cricket Australia, The Australian Ballet and many more.

This role is a good opportunity to get your foot in the door of a rapidly growing Broadcast Services company, expand your skills in live streaming and traditional broadcast workflows.

Please note that this is a casual role, and requires availability on weekends for regular shifts. Saturday and Sunday evenings are typically our busiest time, so please take this into consideration before throwing your hat into the ring.

Master Control Operator responsibilities are:

  • Oversee the ingest, delivery and QA of broadcast events throughout the 5stream business alongside other Master Control Operators
  • Perform basic troubleshooting steps where applicable, and escalate issues to Supervisors on-call as required
  • Quickly and clearly communicate with clients and stakeholders regarding issues, QA faults or other issues with events
  • Maintain and regularly update the fault log, and escalate any recurring or significant faults to management
  • Work as a team within Master Control to divvy up work, collaborate and make every stream a success

Master Control Operator requirements are:

  • A keen interest in live broadcast, IT and/or content delivery
  • Previous exposure to video streaming technologies (via RTMP, SRT, MPEG-TS or equivalent standards) is preferred but not essential
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Strong proficiency in computer systems
